Maker | 15 hrs/week, starts immediately

Natalie Joy is looking for a maker to join our team immediately. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who loves jewelry and would like to be a part of a growing small business. You will work with a small team in a cozy studio located in Natalie's vintage home in SE Portland. Your role as a Maker is to assist with daily jewelry production in our Portland studio. This role requires proficiency in all aspects of jewelry production including parts assembly, soldering and finishing. Our ideal candidate is someone who enjoys doing repetitive work with great attention to detail, and who enjoys working with his or her hands on a regular basis. This is a production position where repetitive fabrication is required.

Responsibilities:

-Prep work on a production scale (repetitive cutting, drilling, hammering, measuring, sawing, hammering, etc.)

-Jewelry assembly

-Soldering

-Sanding

-Metal forming

Desired Traits:

-Ability to do repetitive work with detail and care

-Experience with specialty equipment such as a torch, drill, press, flex shaft

-Experience with wire wrapping

-Ability to work independently

-Proficiency in basic jewelry techniques, specifically soldering

-Demonstrates initiative and ownership of work product and space

-Ability to manipulate hand tools including the use of a flex shaft, files, saws and pliers

You must be located in Portland, OR and have reliable transportation to work at our studio in SE Portland.

Studio Assistant | 16 hrs/week, starts immediately

Does your day start with coffee and your planner? Are you the type of person who writes things down on their to-do list just so you can cross them off? Do you feel a sense of relief when you arrange items so that everything has its own place? Is your idea of fun shopping for office supplies and then make some formulas in Excel? Then you might be just who we're looking for!

Natalie Joy is looking for a studio assistant all-star. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is a team player with a sense for business who happens to love jewelry, and growing with a small business. Our ideal candidate is someone who will bring organization and new business processes to the Natalie Joy studio and manage the daily operations in an efficient manner. You will work closely with the owner and learn about what it takes to run and grow a small business while working in a cozy home studio. As with any role in small business, you will wear many hats and must be adaptable. The full job description and requirements are below and please carefully read all of the key responsibilities and desired traits. Please note that this is NOT a creative position. Main priority tasks involve accounting, time management, errands, studio maintenance, and email correspondence. This position is 16 hours/week. Compensation depends on experience.

 

Responsibilities:

-Work directly with the owner to concept, plan, execute marketing ideas

-Manage invoices, expenses and payments

-Assist in managing studio logistics, equipment and supplies needs, building or floor plans, staffing plans, and other support needs as appropriate

-Exercise independent judgment

-Manage all Natalie Joy social media accounts

-Conduct Website updates and community outreach

-Analyze web data and create reports

-Create, update, and track all expenditure and spending plans

-Manage incoming emails from organizing to responding

-Managing the studio space in clean, professional manner including cleaning, taking of trash, ordering supplies

-Coordinate events and shows

-Provide customer service online and to wholesale clients

-Manage calendars

-Process, package and send online orders

Desired Traits:

-Desire to learn

-Some working knowledge of the principles of office management and the administrative processes necessary to support the operations of a business, such as purchasing, inventory, and financial monitoring.

- Skill in maintaining composure, applying diplomacy and tact in order to respond to complaints

-Ability to plan, develop, and manage workforce based on organizational goals, budget considerations, and staffing needs.

Ability to hold self and others accountable for measurable, high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results

Ability to develop and implement office plans, methods, procedures, and standards to ensure the delivery of services

-Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Applications

-Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite

-Is a team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other employees when necessary

-Strong verbal and written communication skills

-Must have your own laptop

Bonus:

-Working knowledge of Squarespace

-Basic knowledge of CSS, HTML
